Compatible with both petroleum and synthetic gear oils
Reduces break-in temps as much as 50°F
Add 1oz at a time to clutch-type limited slip or posi-traction units to eliminate chatter

Limited-slip or Positraction units use plates or clutches to provide the proper amount of lock-up to the differential. Slippery lubricants are required to prevent chatter, but too much slipperiness causes excess wheel spin, reducing traction.
For perfect traction, use Red Line 75W90NS and add the Red Line Limited-Slip Differential Friction-Modifier / Break-In Additive until the chatter disappears.

Satisfies performance requirements of GM 1052358, Ford M2C118-A, 19B546-MA, Chrysler 4318060 and most imports.

Recommended Dosage:
Use 4% for prevention of limited slip chatter in broken-in units (typical one 4 oz. bottle) or 4 to 8% for the break-in of new differentials.

Red Line Limited-Slip Differential Friction-Modifier / Break-In Additive will significantly reduce the friction during break-in of differentials. High temperatures encountered in break-in
can destroy the hardening of the gear teeth causing rapid wear of the softened gears. This additive can reduce the break-in temperatures by as much as 50°F, improving break-in conditions. Compatible with petroleum or synthetic gear oils. Red Line Gear Oils already contain this additive (except the NS).

In non limited-slip racing differentials and quick change units using the Red Line ShockProof Gear Oils an additional 3 to 6% Red Line Limited-Slip Differential Friction-Modifier / Break-In Additive is recommended.

2010 is the year the HSV-010 made its debut.. and on Round 8 held at Motegi (Final round of the 2010 SuperGT), both Weider HSV-010 and Keihin HSV-010 has managed to clinched both 2nd and 3rd placing respectively in the GT500 class behind 1st place Petronas Tom's SC430.

Overall.. Weider HSV-010 is the champion for both the drivers and team title.

"The MOTEGI GT 250 km RACE, Round 8 of the 2010 AUTOBACS SUPER GT, took place at the Twin Ring Motegi (Tochigi Pref.) on Oct. 24. The GT500 class race was won by the No. 1 PETRONAS TOM'S SC430 driven by Juichi Wakisaka and Andre Lotterer. The GT300 class victory went to the No. 3 TOMICA Z driven by Kazuki Hoshino and Masataka Yanagida.

The 2010 Driver series title for the GT500 class was won by Takashi Kogure and Loic Duval (Weider HSV-010), who finished 2nd in this race. In the GT300 class, the season Driver title was claimed by the Hoshino/Yanagida pair."

"It was the winner of this race, Juichi Wakisaka of the No.1 PETRONAS TOM'S SC430 team, and the 2nd place finisher and season title winner Takashi Kogure of the No.18 Weider HSV-010 team who thrilled the fans gathered here at Motegi for this final contest of the 2010 season with the memorable battle they staged over the second half of the race.

As the second stint drivers for their respective teams, these two ace drivers were pitted against each other is a tense, close-fought battle that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats right down to the closing seconds. Although 2nd place was all he needed to clinch the season title, Kogure never let up the pressure as he stalked Wakisaka, waiting for his chance to steal the lead. As for Wakisaka, he fought a fair fight throughout, even though the two machines bumped each other at times in the heat of the competition. It was truly a showdown that will live on in the annals of GT history as a clash of the competitive spirit of two titans of the race arena.

No.17 KEIHIN HSV-010The race began exactly at 14:00 under cloudy skies. The cars went into the first corner roughly in their grid order with pole-sitter Loic Duval leading in car No. 18. That changed on lap three when the No. 6 ENEOS SC430 (Bjorn Wirdheim) running in 2nd place was given a 20-second penalty stop. Wirdheim had gone through a red light at the exit to the pit road while heading to the grid before the start of the race.
This all but eliminated the title chances of the 2nd ranked No. 6 team and appeared to take considerable pressure of No.18 all at once. However, Andre Lotterer in the No. 1 PETRONAS TOM'S SC430 had other ideas as he charged hard in pursuit of the leader. Lotterer had passed the No. 12 CALSONIC IMPUL GT-R (Tsugio Matsuda) on the opening lap, and with the penalty on No. 6 he stood in 3rd position. On lap 14 he dispatched the No. 17 KEIHIN HSV-010 (Toshihiro Kaneishi) and headed off in pursuit of No. 18. On the first corner of lap 19 Lotterer (No. 1) made a move on No. 18 (Duval). Without making any undue effort to block Lotterer's path, Duval let the No. 1 car past and into the lead.

Car No. 1 was the first of the two to make its pit stop, with Duval bringing his car No. 18 into the pit a lap later. The No. 1 team was about two seconds faster in its pit work, which meant that the two machines returned to the track with No. 1 in the lead and Juichi Wakisaka at the wheel. Meanwhile, Takashi Kogure took the wheel of car No.18.
By the time all of the cars had finished their pit stops and returned to the track, No.1 (Wakisaka) was in the lead with No. 18 (Kogure) once again in 2nd place. From this point began the most memorable battle of the 2010 season. On the first corner of lap 36, Kogure in car No. 18 moved up on the outside and pulled alongside Wakisaka (No. 1) and stayed there through the second corner and headed toward the third corner. The two machines bumped each other lightly as they ran side-by-side, but they kept the fight fair with neither trying to push the other off the track. Eventually, Wakisaka in car No. 1 emerged the winner of this skirmish but Kogure (No. 18) remained undaunted as he continued to stalk the leader. The close-fought skirmishes continued this way right down to the final lap. Coming out of the last turn of that final lap Kogure (No.18) made one last attempt to pass car No.1 but Wakisaka held him off to take the checkered and the win. For the No.1 PETRONAS TOM'S SC430 team (Juichi Wakisaka/Andre Lotterer), it was their first win of the season.

No.18 Weider HSV-010By finishing 2nd the No. 18 Weider HSV-010 team (Takashi Kogure/Loic Duval) were able to defend their lead in the season's ranking and win the Driver title. Also, the Team title went to the Weider Honda Racing team.
Finishing 3rd in the race was the No. 17 KEIHIN HSV-010 (Toshihiro Kaneishi/Koudai Tsukakoshi), which has started the race on the 3rd grid position. This team's strategy had been to save time in the pit by changing only the two rear tires in order to catch the two lead machines, but the gap was too great.

Fourth place went to the No. 35 MJ KRAFT SC430 (Hiroaki Ishiura/Kazuya Oshima) while the No. 12 CALSONICIMPUL GT-R (Tsugio Matsuda/Ronnie Quintarell) became the first of the GT-R finishers in 5th place.

The FX400 System uses the Power Plus I Pressure Plate with a custom, extremely durable, Sprung Ceramic disc. This is the ultimate extreme duty street and/or road/drag racing system. It is available in a 4 or 6 wing (paddle) configuration, with the 4-wing being the more aggressive setup (please specify which type you prefer). The sprung hub design allows for moderate dampening in high-torque applications, rendering it much more streetable than solid or rigid designs. This disc is designed for long life, outstanding holding capacity, and rapid heat dissipation.

Warning: Due to the solid (no Marcel) friction rivet design, the FX400 disc engages very quickly and may chatter slightly in first and reverse. To help alleviate this problem, we only use premium ceramic friction material.

Here is the RRC intake, taken right off the Honda Civic Type R (FD2) model.. This intake is a good upgrade for EP3, DC5, FN2 and even CL7R Users as they improve the flow of the air from the TB to the engine.

Difference between other IM (from DC5 and RBC) is the size of the Intake Plenum and also the way the plenum moves (straight). If used together with the Hondata Intake Gasket, you can get an estimate 5% more power from your engine.

There has been lots of test done between the RRC and other IM in the markets (Skunk2 or Endyn) and it has been proven that RRC outperforms the aftermarket IMs interms of price, power and Tq.

About Hondata
Hondata, Inc. is an American corporation that specializes in the modification and reprogramming of certain Honda and Acura engine control units (ECUs). Its products are popular with certain members of the import scene concerned with engine swapping and tuning. One advantage of FlashPro is that it allows NA and FI tuning using the factory Honda S2000 ECU. FlashPro is used by connecting it to the OBD-II socket of the car and is only available for car models from 2006 -2010 models (with DBW). Oversize Throttle Bodies work well with Fuel and Air Upgrades. Use of a High Flow Air Intake is required, as the opening is larger than the Stock Intake Piping. Match Porting your Intake Manifold will help Maximum the Larger Throttle Body Diameter.

Most companies simply bore out the stock throttle body and change the Butterfly. But Not S90-Racing! S90-Racing Throttle Bodies are made from CNC Billet Aluminum AL6061 and are a direct replacement for the OEM Cast Throttle Body.

BMW: What Red Line Products Do I Need?

BMW enthusiasts have had an affinity for Red Line products from our earliest days. Given that Red Line's home turf is Northern California, one of the highest concentrations of BMW vehicles outside of Germany, the popularity makes sense. What has kept this going for almost 30 years is the ability of Red Line products to help new and old BMWs perform at their highest potential.

Red Line works closely with some of the best BMW mail order operations and performance tuners in the country, including Bavarian Autosport, Bimmerworld, BMP, Dinan, and Turner Motorsports to name a few.

Our communication with these experts leads to product recommendations based on factory recommendations, feedback from technicians, and interaction with performance enthusiasts. The notes in this column should act as a general overview As always, we first cross over to the factory?s lubricant specification, see where Red Line's product benefits provide merit, then evaluate from there.

MOTOR OIL

Recent years have brought much controversy to the topic of BMWs and motor oil; given BMWs unprecedented drain intervals and Castrol relationship at the dealership level. We have much respect for BMW and many at Red Line are BMW enthusiasts, but photos like you see in this article back up the consumer's concern. To start, Red Line recommends our 10W40 Motor Oil for engines up to 1998 and our 5W30 Motor Oil for engine from 1999 and up. As for the M-cars, track day activity, and specialty applications, many select Red Line motor oils for their stability at temperature, so moving up an oil weight is likely to cause a loss in power and fuel economy.

Most E36 and E46 cars run fine on the recommended 5W30-even with all but the most dramatic aftermarket mods. The need for 10W60 motor oil in the M-cars is questionable to many (including Red Line, as we've seen customers run as light as 5W30 in E46 M3s without issue), but we now offer this product for sale in North America (we have sold this product in Asia for many years). Folks like Bavarian Autosport smartly recommend that that their Red Line customers use the lightest weight that's appropriate for seasonal conditions. We don't argue that.

Tuning shops like BimmerWorld have switched to Red Line products for both their customers and their racecars. Owner and race driver James Clay brought to us serious concerns with over sludge issues on cars that have followed BMW's drain interval recommendations and the oil supplied at the dealership.

These photos are of a typical M54 engine, standard in E46 and E39 non-M cars from 1999 through 2005. Clay has found that the shear stability and detergency of Red Line's motor oils help in keeping sludge issues like this under control. Bavarian's expert Gordon Arnold adds that this nasty sludge can cause piston ring land carbon, oil feed clogging, drain back issues, deterioration and clogging of crankcase ventilation hoses and oil separators, and even VANOS issues.

Speaking of VANOS, the BimmerWorld guys have done motor oil testing with their SCCA World Challenge cars-they report that changing oil weight has not had an effect on the system?s variable valve train control. They see no timing change due to different viscosities. As for drain interval, Bavarian recommends 7000 mile oil changes (due to contamination, more than oil break-down) and we tend to agree, though we know of customers going much longer on our products with their BMWs.

TRANSMISSIONS

As with the motor oil, the extended drain intervals (or lack of a recommendation to drain) on BMW automatics is a major issue for many experts and technicians in the field. Many of our customers have found improved wear characteristics and performance by swapping out BMW's longlife fluids for Red Line D4 ATF. Red Line is known for producing products that pinpoint an application, but D4 ATF meets the needs of a variety of late-model BMW needs, including many automatic and manual transmission. Independent shops often stock this product in 5-gallon pails to dispense as an upgrade for their customers.

Here's a link to the Bavarian Auto Newsletter to a few great stories on how to do this swap (navigate to the Spring 2006 and Winter 2003-2004 issues). Changing it out every 50,000 miles sounds like a good plan. Otherwise, you may find the sludge that our expert Gordon found in this 5-series oil pan. Enough said.

Manual transmissions open up a whole load of topics, but the feedback is overwhelming that our fluids help improve performance and cold operation due to stable viscosity, balanced friction (so that syncros can slow down enough to match up), and more-than-sufficient antiwear additives.
While respected BMW tech expert Mike Miller (and Bavarian, as well) confidently recommends MTL for every BMW manual gearbox without complaints, Red Line follows a baseline closer to the factory recommendations. The early gearboxes (through 1985) take our MTL, a 70W80 GL-4 fluid.

From 1986 to 1992, it is a bit trickier in that there are three different transmissions identified by a label on the passenger side of the bell housing. That with a green label and a 17mm hex drain plug uses MT-90, a red label and 17mm plug uses D4 ATF, and that with no label and a 15mm drain plug uses MTL.

From 1993 on, we recommend D4 ATF (yes, ATF in a manual transmission). The only late-model exception is the 2006 Xi trans, which takes D6 ATF.

Whew, that's a lot to remember. For the most part, these transmissions take less than 2 quarts. The typical exceptions are the 8-series cars before 2000 (just under 2.5 quarts) and the M5's 7-speed (from 2005), which requires just less than three quarts.

DIFFERENTIALS

Where it is more difficult making motor oil and transmission recommendations, it is relatively easy to match up Red Line GL-5+ gear oils with a BMW diff, in that many run on our 75W90.

This gear oil has the extreme pressure additives that you need to protect the extreme loading of the ring and pinion, as well as just enough limited slip friction modifier to help the LSD to operate properly and avoid chattering. The differentials equipped with multi-disk LSDs (1992-up) take our 75W140 (which also comes with the friction modifier already included).

OTHER FLUIDS

For many years, our SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner has been a favorite of BMW dealership and independent technicians for ongoing upkeep of the fuel injectors, combustion chambers, and other related areas effected by carbon buildup. A full bottle every few months does the trick and also helps troubled cars get through stingy emissions tests, our customers report.

WaterWetter is also a useful tool in controlling BMW temperatures, as this product is totally compatible with glycol antifreeze. Remember that you only need one bottle, as two is not necessarily better.

So Is The Lexus LF-A Any Good? Top Gear Finds Out …

Lexus has never built a supercar before, so it would almost be okay if people were to doubt the LF-A’s talents at first. Well because a car should never be judged before it’s driven, the LF-A was given the benefit of doubt, but that was before any journalist drove one. Then the testing began, one prominent journalist called it the “best car he had EVER driven”, and others were singing equally high praise. So what gives?

Well, Lexus did take nine (yes, 9) years to build it. The first body was built in aluminium but because the bosses at Lexus were not happy with it, the entire thing was scrapped and the engineers worked from scratch all over again. This time they worked with carbon fiber with as much attention to detail given to the car as a stealth bomber except this is no stealth bomber. The V10 engine at the rear is so rev-happy that Lexus had to design and build a digital rev meter just because a regular rev meter could not keep up with how fast the engine built and lost revs.

The engineers of the LF-A were so obsessed with weight saving and carbon fiber that even the steering wheel is made out of carbon fiber. So is the Lexus LF-A any more special then? Well, it’s got the Gallardo’s cylinders and the 599’s power, it’s got the speed of the Aston Martin DBS but the price of a uber exotic hypercar. So how good can a Lexus supercar be? Richard Hammond finds out in the video above and below.
